From Mexico to Peru, the Hispanic community has infused H Street with the warmth and vibrancy of their culinary traditions, making it a destination for food lovers across the District. Let’s take a moment to highlight some of the beloved Hispanic eateries and events that have become staples in our community.

Their tacos, filled with everything from al pastor to barbacoa, take you straight to the heart of Mexico. The casual atmosphere and friendly staff make it a go-to for a quick bite, and their margaritas are not to be missed!

Served with classic sides like yuca fries and plantains, every meal here is a taste of Latin American comfort food. This is a go-to for anyone craving a taste of Peru.

Each establishment offers a unique slice of Hispanic culture, bringing the traditions of Mexico, Peru, and beyond to our neighborhood. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the contributions of Hispanic Americans, and here on H Street, we celebrate through the vibrant flavors, creativity, and warmth of the restaurants and cultural activities that enrich our community.
This month, take the opportunity to support these local businesses, savor their delicious dishes, and appreciate the cultural diversity that makes H Street a special place. Whether you’re indulging in tacos, empanadas, Peruvian chicken, or a fusion dish from Provencial—or learning to salsa dance at Joy of Music—you’re not just enjoying a meal or a dance, you’re partaking in a tradition that celebrates history, family, and the shared joy of food and culture.
