Don’t Forget Dad: Celebrate Father’s Day H Street Style
Let’s be honest — Father’s Day often lives in the long shadow of Mother's Day. Brunch reservations aren’t booked a month in advance, flower shops aren’t overwhelmed, and no one’s fighting for a spa appointment. But this year, don’t fall into the trap of giving Dad the short end of the stick. Instead, give Father’s Day the full H Street treatment.
Start with dinner at Cynthia’s Bar and Bistro, named after the owner’s mother (yes, even the restaurant name proves how moms always get first dibs!). But this Father’s Day, it’s all about Dad — and nothing says “we appreciate you” like Cynthia’s Father’s Day Special Ax-Handle Ribeye. Juicy, perfectly cooked, and served H Street style.
If Dad’s a grill master, make a quick stop at W.S. Jenks & Son, the neighborhood’s go-to for serious grilling gear. From tongs to smokers to outdoor kitchen setups, Jenks has everything Dad needs to turn backyard cookouts into full-on culinary events.
Then, swing by the new ALDI — because what dad doesn’t love a good deal? Load up on burgers, ribs, brats, and all the fixings without blowing the budget.
For the whiskey-loving dad, Haymaker Bar is a must. With a fantastic whiskey selection, it’s the perfect spot for a Father’s Day toast — neat, on the rocks, or in an expertly mixed old fashioned.
If your dad’s a little more rock ‘n’ roll, surprise him with tickets to a show at The Pie Shop — great music, great vibe, and, of course, great pie.
Finally, for the book-loving dad, swing by Solid State Books to pick up a fresh new read. Let Dad kick back with his book of choice while savoring the perfect Father's Day you put together.
This year, skip the tie and socks — give Dad a Father’s Day worth bragging about. And remember: Mother’s Day may get more attention, but Father's Day gets H Street style.
