Where to Watch the Fireworks on the 4th: H Street Tips for a Spectacular (and Delicious) Night (#60)
Also in this issue you will find more good news, real estate, hiring, events, promotions, and a blog article on Taco Bell.
Washington, D.C. shines extra bright on the Fourth of July, and H Street residents are lucky to be so close to the action. Whether you're itching for a rooftop view of the National Fireworks or would rather stay cozy at home with your pup and a plate of chili, we’ve got your night covered. Here's how to make the most of Independence Day right here in our neighborhood.
For the View-Seekers: Rooftops With a Bang
If you want to catch a glimpse of the National Mall fireworks, elevation is your friend. Here are a few rooftop spots on or near H Street that may offer a slice of sky (please double-check in advance):
1. Henceforth
One of the newest additions to H Street’s rooftop scene, Henceforth serves up chic cocktails, great vibes, and a rooftop that just might offer a peek at the fireworks, especially if you're toward the edge with a clear view.
2. Copycat Co.
This dimly-lit cocktail bar has a hidden gem: a small rooftop deck. While it won’t give you a full-on Mall view, you might catch some of the higher bursts. And even if you miss a few fireworks, the dumplings and cocktails more than make up for it.
3. Dirty Water
This local favorite has a casual rooftop with a festive atmosphere and solid bar food. It’s a great place to gather with friends and raise a cold one as the sky lights up in celebration.
4. Apartment Buildings
Now’s the time to hit up your friends who live in one of the many mid- and high-rise apartment buildings in the area. Many rooftops offer killer views—some even with grills, lounge seating, and AC-adjacent amenities. BYOB and a thank-you bottle of wine for your host, of course.
For the Stay-at-Home Patriot: Comfort, AC, and Takeout
Not into crowds or humidity? No problem. H Street has everything you need for the ultimate cozy Fourth of July.
Order up your Americana favorites and settle in:
Ben’s Chili Bowl: Nothing says D.C. pride like a Half Smoke and a bowl of Ben’s iconic chili. Spicy, satisfying, and just messy enough to feel festive.
Smokin’ Pig: Bring the smoke to your backyard or living room with ribs, brisket, and classic sides like cornbread and baked beans.
Pie Shop: Whether you’re sweet (apple) or savory (chicken pot), a pie from the Pie Shop is a slice of summer in every bite.
The Little Grand: Pizza on the Fourth? Absolutely. Their sourdough pie crust pizzas hit the spot—whether you're going classic cheese or adventurous.
Pro tip: Queue up a patriotic playlist, pull out a cozy blanket, and make it a night to remember with your dog by your side, a cold drink in hand, and the distant boom of fireworks echoing over H Street.
